The Institution Innovation Council of Malnad College of Engineering has consistently performed well, earning a 4-star rating for the past two years and ranking in the 101-150 band in the NIRF Innovation Category 2023. As a result, the institute has been selected as a Mentor Institute under the Ministry of Education's Mentor-Mentee Scheme 2024, guiding five other institutions: Bangalore Institute of Technology, Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Engineering, and the Maharaja Institutes of Technology (Mysore and Thandavapura).
