Innovation Confluence 2026 ā Problem Discovery to Product Co-Creation

The event brought together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, ecosystem enablers, and student innovators on a single platform to foster meaningful collaboration.The session focused on real-world problem discovery and collaborative solution building, enabling participants to ideate and co-create impactful, fundable solutions under NAIN 2.0. Through expert interactions, mentorship opportunities, and dynamic discussions, students gained valuable insights into innovation, startups, and product development.The confluence served as a vibrant platform where ideas transformed into actionable solutions, strengthening the innovation ecosystem and encouraging future-ready entrepreneurship. š
KrishiManthan 2026
On 25th and 26th March 2026
āKrishi Manthan Hackathon 2026 brought together farmers and student innovators on a single platform to solve real-world agricultural challenges using AI, data analytics, and automation. The event witnessed participation from 61 teams, 240+ students, and 46+ farmers, fostering strong collaboration and idea exchange. Through a 36-hour hackathon, participants developed practical, scalable solutions with direct farmer input. Top teams were recognized with a total prize pool of ā¹80,000, along with mentorship and internship opportunities. The initiative successfully strengthened the innovation ecosystem and promoted real-time, impact-driven problem solving in agriculture.."
Roots of Innovation: Engineering Meets Agriculture

The event was convened by Dr. Geetha Kiran A, CEO, ME-RIISE FOUNDATION . During the program, MTESĀ® Chairman Sri R. T. Dyavegowda, Secretary Sri C. R. Jagadeesh, and Treasurer Sri Parshwanath felicitated the authors Mamatha Prabhu and Anu Chowdipura, an alumnus of Malnad College of Engineering, in recognition of their inspiring work.During the interaction, Anu Chowdipura spoke about the importance of solving agricultural challenges through technology and highlighted how engineers can play a crucial role in addressing real problems faced by farmers through innovation, research, and practical technological solutions.The book carries a powerful message for todayās youth and beautifully portrays the dignity, purpose, and fulfillment that come from sharing oneās life with a farmer. It highlights the deep connection between agriculture, resilience, and society, encouraging young minds to respect and value the strength and wisdom rooted in our farming communities."

Contributing to AICTE and MIC Pre-AI Summit activities through AI for Design Thinking, aligned with the India AI Impact Summit 2026 and the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharatāled by Dr. Geetha Kiran A., CEO, ME-RIISE Foundation and President MCE-IIC" Students explored how Artificial Intelligence transforms problem-solvingāfrom empathy to innovation. Ten student teams ideated, prototyped, and pitched AI-driven solutions to real-world problems in the AI for Design Thinking program. ="ME-RIISE Foundation, in association with the Basic Sciences Department, conducted āIGNITE ā Idea to Proto 2.0ā on 23rd December 2025, showcasing innovative AI-based projects developed by first-year students as part of their course on āIntroduction to AI & its use casesā. Students from three sections mentored by their course faculties Dr. Geetha Kiran A, Dr. Balaji Prabhu B V and Dr. Kunal G S presented their projects developed during the course of study. The event was graced by Dr. Amarendra H. J, Principal and Dr. A. J. Krishnaiah, former Principal, who visited the ME-RIISE Foundation premises and interacted with the students.The program was organized by Dr. Geetha Kiran A, CEO of ME-RIISE Foundation and convened by Dr. Kalavathi G. K, Head of the Mathematics Department. The projects were evaluated by Prof. Shruthi D V, Dept. of ISE and Prof. Poornima M R, Dept. of ECE. Dr. Nanditha B. R. and Dr. Mohana Lakshmi were also part of the event.The program reinforced experiential learning and innovation among first-year students through hands-on AI applications."

="ME-RIISE FOUNDATION facilitated the Day 5 and Day 6 innovation-driven induction program at Malnad College of Engineering designed to introduce first-year students to design thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on prototyping. The two-day workshop was facilitated by ME-RIISE FOUNDATION and team, along with student volunteers. š¹ Day 5 ā Ignition: Idea to Proto Students were guided by Geetha Kiran A, Dean (Corporate Affairs), through the principles of Design Thinking. With mentor support, they crafted problem statements and pitched their initial ideas. Post-lunch, students explored the fundamentals of bot building and assembled their first prototypes. š¹ Day 6 ā Build and Battle: Engineering the Future, One Race at a Time. Teams simultaneously worked on presenting innovative solutions and fine-tuning their bots. The highlight of the day was an exciting Bot Race, where creativity, engineering skills, and teamwork came alive on track. The top two teams were recognized for their performance in the two days event.⨠This induction program offered students a complete innovation cycle experienceāfrom identifying challenges to building prototypes and competing in real-world simulations"
Innovator to Entrepreneur: A Startup Readiness Session

ME-RIISE FOUNDATION successfully hosted ā āInnovator to Entrepreneur: A Startup Readiness Sessionā today at Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan, supported by NAIN 2.0 (New Age Innovation Network) and the Department of Electronics, IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka.We were honored to have Sri. Ananth Ravi and Mr. Chetan Shirnali with us for this impactful session, which focused on Raising Capital and Managing Finance for innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs.Malnad College of Engineering proudly serves as the Program Monitoring Partner (PMP) under the Rajiv Gandhi Entrepreneurship Program (RGEP). Four innovators are actively working with us under this program, and they had the valuable opportunity to be mentored by todayās experts.As part of the event, research internship certificates were also awarded to students who successfully completed their 15-week research internship.A big thank you to our speakers, innovators, and participants for making the session highly engaging and insightful.
Routing Hackathon with PCB

The ME-RIISE FOUNDATION, in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Malnad College of Engineering, successfully organized a 3-day event titled āRouting Hackathon with PCBā from 15th May 2025, under the New Age Innovation Network 2.0 (NAIN 2.0) initiative.The hackathon provided a dynamic platform for students to engage in practical learning through PCB design and routing. Participants had the opportunity to apply their technical skills, develop innovative solutions, and gain hands-on experience in solving real-world engineering challenges. The event also encouraged collaboration, creativity, and critical thinkingākey qualities for future innovators.The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries from MTES(R) and MCE, who appreciated the initiative and motivated students to pursue innovation with purpose.
Workshop on Patent Proficiency for Academic Innovators

A one-day workshop titled "Patent Proficiency for Academic Innovators" was organized at IIIT Bangalore on 9th May, 2025 under the NAIN 2.0 programme. The inaugural session was graced by Mr. Nithin Chakki, KAS, Dr. Lakshmi Jagannathan, CEO, Innovation Centre, IIITB and the Director of IIITB. The session was led by Mr. Prakash Balekundri, an expert in intellectual property and innovation strategy. The workshop aimed to enhance the understanding of patent filing processes. Dr. Geetha Kiran A, College Coordinator, NAIN 2.0 along with Dr. Nanditha B R, Dr. Madhu P, Dr. Mohana Lakshmi J, and Dr. Santhosh Kumar K B, participated in the workshop. The hands-on sessions provided valuable insights into patent drafting, filing procedures, and strategic approaches to intellectual property management. Interactive discussions and practical exercises facilitated a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in patent processes. The workshop concluded with a session on best practices for identifying patentable projects and the importance of protecting innovative ideas in academia.
Workshop on Concept to Customer
On 28th March 2025
IIIT Bangalore conducted a workshop titled "Concept to Customer: Essential Startup Roadmap" under the NAIN 2.0 initiative at Malnad College of Engineering (MCE), Hassan. Around 60 students participated, gaining insights into entrepreneurship, innovation, and startup development. The event began with a welcome by Dr. Geetha Kiran A, NAIN 2.0 Coordinator, followed by inaugural remarks from Dr. A. J. Krishnaiah, Principal, MCE, who highlighted the importance of startups. Mr. D. B. Hemanth Kumar praised ME-RIISE FOUNDATION for fostering innovation. Dr. Lakshmi Jagannathan, CEO of IIITB Innovation Centre, shared key strategies on building entrepreneurial mindset and the value of prototyping. Students created and presented business models, receiving mentorship from the IIITB team. Selected NAIN 2.0 project teams also received guidance on developing their Proof of Concepts (PoCs).The session was coordinated by Mr. Manu Gowda and concluded with remarks by Dr. Siddharth Nayak, who emphasized the importance of hands-on entrepreneurial training.
Workshop on Visual AI Technology

Workshop on āVisual AI Technologyā was organized for Computer Science and allied branch students today at our institute in association with XenReality Technologies, Bengaluru. Zeba Khan, CEO of XenReality Technologies and Rishab Shivkumar, Head of Product at XenReality Technologies were the resource persons for this workshop. Vision AI technology can be used to analyze CCTV videos captured in retail stores and identify which products customers are most interested in buying, said Zeba Khan. She explained that, artificial intelligence is not just about chatbots like Chat GPT, but also includes other fields including Vision AI. Vision AI technology involves the process of analyzing, understanding and responding to visual data.

Innovate & Elevate ā NAIN 2.0 Student Project Evaluation at NHI

The event was organized under the New Age Innovation Network 2.0 (NAIN 2.0), a flagship initiative by the Department of Electronics, IT, BT, Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka. A total of 26 student innovations were evaluated by a distinguished jury panel comprising experts from both industry and academia. As part of the NAIN 2.0 scheme, up to Rs. 5 lakh in funding will be provided for the top 10 promising projects, offering support to help bring these innovations to life.
